The Sound Graph paintings, which employ the language of abstract American art, are based on visual representations of audio files. Sarah Morris starts from recordings made in connection with her films. The compositions of the paintings, which are made up of sharply contoured geometric shapes, seem to flow across the picture plane. This creates the impression of increasing and decreasing volume.
