The estate of Anne Loch

Due to the extreme enlargement, Anne Loch’s paintings repeatedly veer towards abstraction. This group of works depicts the artist herself and her garden. The basis for these paintings was a series of photographs taken by the artist in her garden in Thusis in the 1990s. Painted using only three colours on a primed canvas, the images are reminiscent of oversized photographic negatives. The subject becomes increasingly dissolved until it finally disintegrates into lively clouds of colour.
